The Federal Government is constructing and rehabilitating 10 road in Edo, Mr Dennis Orji, the Controller of Works in charge of Federal Highways, South-South zone, has said.
Orji told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Benin that the Federal Ministry of Works was constructing six new roads and rehabilitating four old ones in the state.
He named the roads under rehabilitation as the Ifon-Uzebba-Iruekpen road, approach road to the New Ose Bridge, access road to the Federal Government College, Ibillo-Ikpesa-Odo-Ekor-Issua.
Others are the 3.2 kilometre Ajele Road in Ubiaja, in the Esan South-East Local Government Area, and the Ada-Okere-Ukoni-Amedokhion road.
Orji said some of the on-going road works included the 15 kilometre inter-state road from Aiyegule in the Akoko Edo Local Government Area, and construction of two bridges on the Auchi Polytechnic-Ekperi-Agenebode road.
He added that the ministry was also constructing the Lokoja-Benin road, Obajana Junction-Benin-Ehor dual carriage way, Section Four Phase 1, Ehor.
Orji said the other ongoing road projects were the Lokoja-Benin dual carriage way, Obajana Junction-Benin, Section iii, Phase 1; and the Auchi-Ehor-Benin road.
He, however, said that the ministry had completed the design and construction
of Auchi Polytechnic-Ekperi-Uzea-Ohe road with a spur to Fugar-Afuda-Usugbenun road.
He said that the ministry had completed the Water Works-Ivue-Ibore/Irrua road, Section ii and constructed a pedestrian bridge at Auchi Polytechnic Main Gate, and designed and constructed the 25 kilometre Benin-Adumagbae-Egba-Akure road.
