Residents of Warri were on Friday evening thrown into panic over a fire outbreak at the tank farm of Matrix Energy Limited.
According to reports, the fire broke out with a shattering explosion that rocked Ifiekporo, Ubeji and other nearby communities.
Although the cause the incident is yet to be ascertained, the inferno may have resulted from loading activities at the tank farm.
However, fire service men are said to be currently battling to put out the blazing fire.
Reacting to the incident, the chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi, urged residents to remain calm.
Tidi, while confirming that fire service men have been mobilised to the scene, assured that the flames are being contained.
