The National Publicity Secretary of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Rufus Aiyenigba, has accused the embattled national chairman of the party, Shehu Gabam, of not doing well in three years.
Aiyenigba stated this on Monday while responding to questions in an interview on ‘Prime Time’, a programme on Arise Television.
Recall that the the National Working Committee, NWC, of the SDP, expelled Gabam and National Youth Leader, Ogbonna Uchechukwu, over allegations of misconduct, financial misappropriation and abuse of office.
Meanwhile, the expelled National Chairman has insisted that he remains the legitimate chairman of the party.
Reacting, Aiyenigba said, “I pity the former chairman for not taking the opportunity available to him to clear his name.
“You had issues with your political party. You were suspended and out of office for four months. You were given the chance to come and clear yourself but you ignored the opportunity.
“The issue the SDP has with Gabam is that he hasn’t done well as chairman of the party in three years.
“He was to have a NEC meeting a minimum of twice in a year. Since June 2022, up to the time of his suspension, he never called for any NEC meeting.”
