Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has lauded the advent of SLTV, indigenous Nigerian satellite pay television, towards ensuring competitive value delivery to Nigerians.
He gave the commendation when Princess Nikky Onyeri, Chief Operating Officer of Camroll Quest Ltd, SLTV’s mega dealer in FCT paid him a courtesy visit on Friday at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.
According to the ruling party chairman, the operators of SLVT took a patriotic step in setting up the satellite television towards providing quality and affordable service for Nigerians, and therefore should be supported.
“First of all, I want to thank you, especially for coming up with new technology that will make information very accessible to Nigerians, because information is power and we rely on communication for the socio-economic development of our country.
“We are happy to receive this brand, especially for recognising us as important stakeholders because at the same time our party and the government of the day will also benefit from this beautiful innovation,” he said.
Earlier, Onyeri, who was accompanied by some members of her management team, said the visit was part of stakeholders engagement towards rallying support for the indigenous brand in line with advocacy for made-in-Nigeria products.
According to her, the forum is to present decoders and dishes to the chairman and to explain to him the innovation and operations of SLTV, which makes it a veritable alternative for Nigerians.
“This is the dawn of a new age for subscribers of pay television as a Nigerian brand has emerged to deliver affordable and quality service.
“We are indeed grateful to be back here and to present to the chairman SLTV, the new-age TV network that is truly Indigenous, owned by Nigeria and the parent company is Metro Digital Limited.
“We deeply appreciate the enabling environment provided by the President Bola Tinubu led Federal Government that enabled the successful launch of this brand in March this year and the product is already in the market.
“We have over 58 channels and this decoder also can work with any dish and must not be the Metro Digital Dish, which makes it unique a service every Nigerian can afford,” she said.
She added that SLTV showed live football matches from the Premier League, Champions League, La Liga, Seria A, and UEFA, among others, with a monthly subscription ranging from N2,500 and N5,000.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Federal Government, in a bid to offer Nigerians alternatives and enhance competition in the sector, had in March unveiled SLTV, an indigenous satellite pay television.
The inauguration of the event, held at the Shehu Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, saw the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, stating that “SLTV would provide Nigerians with real value for their money.”
He commended Metrodigital Limited, the operators of SLTV, for their patriotic initiative and expressed the Federal Government’s full support for the venture.
Within four months after the launch, SLTV was already gaining popularity and acceptance among teeming Nigerian subscribers to pay TV service because of its relatively low packages and value delivery.(NAN)
