Maj-Gen. Ibrahim Ali has taken over command as the new Force Commander, Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) at Camp Farcha in Ndjemena, Chad, sequel to the recent redeployment of senior Nigerian Army officers.
This is contained in a statement by the Military Public Information Officer for MNJTF, Lt.-Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, on Friday in Ndjemena, Chad.
Ali took over from Maj-Gen. Gold Chibuisi, who has also took over from him as the new Theatre Commander, Operation Hadin Kai, in Maiduguri, Borno.
The new force commander said his command style would involve inclusivity, by ensuring that everyone was carried along and appealed for cooperation from all members of the MNJTF to achieve the mandate of the task force.
In his valedictory remarks, the former Force Commander said the task force achieved a lot of successes during his three-month tenure in both kinetic and non-kinetic aspects.
Chibuisi said the successful clearance operations of terrorist hideouts, the neutralisation of key terrorist leaders and the rescue of 56 hostages during Operation HARBIN ZUMA were some of the notable successes.
He added that various quick impact projects in Chad and Niger Republics were handed over to the local communities.
Chibuisi urged the new Force Commander to continue the momentum and sustain the offensive against adversaries.
