Maj-Gen. Frank Etim, the outgone Brigade Commander, 6 Brigade, Jalingo on Wednesday urged soldiers in the formation to accelerate efforts at ending banditry in Taraba.
Etim gave the charge in Jalingo, at the handing over ceremony to Brig. Gen. Kingsley Uwa, the new commander of the brigade.
He urged the soldiers to continue with the resilience to fight, till the monster bedeviling the state was conquered.
He thanked them for their cooperation in ensuring Taraba was better than when he took over.
“ I want to thank you for your cooperation and support in fighting against banditry, kidnapping and other forms of criminality in the state during my tenure.
“I also wish to thank the Taraba State Government, and the people, for their support that enabled us to succeed in our operations.
“We do most of our things in good conscience and professionally.
“Today, my one year and six months stay has come to an end; and I am handing over to you another good infantry officer, a member of our crocodile family.
“I expect you to give him every support so that he can consolidate on our gains and even do more
Etim, who recalled that his stay in Taraba had been very eventful as he came at a time when the state was bedeviled with crisis, with the support of the government and the people however, he was able to overcome.
Responding, Uwa assured that he would sustain the legacies of the former commander.
He also assured the people of the state that troops under his watch would not relent on their oars, until all criminal elements within the state were flushed out of their holes and forced to embrace peace.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the new brigade commander was redeployed from Operation Hadarin Daji, in the North West.
