The Theatre Commander (TC) Operations Hadin Kai Maj-Gen Gold Chibuisi has called for synergy between the media and the Military if peace is to be achieved.
The TC who received the correspondent’s chapel on a media round table recently called on journalists to continue to shape the ideology of the people which to him is part of the non kinetic approach.
“Our efforts is the kinetic but we want you to increase your effort in the non kinetic so that synergy will be maintained at all costs with all stake holders.
” I believe that even the terrorists have lost steam and are tired which is why they are surrendering in doves to our troops.
” To this end, let me assure you that the military will not relent till the last terrorist is put out of action. I want you the media to play your role as partners through verified reportage.” said the TC.
Responding the chair of the NUJ Comrade Dauda Ilya assured that the media will play its own part by promoting strong civil military relations between all stake holders
He described journalists as strategic partners In the fight against insurgency adding that nothing will make journalists working in the war theatre to turn against the military.
“Let me assure you that the days of retaliation between the military and the journalists are gone particularly in the north east theatre. For now we all work as partners against a common enemy and it remains so until the enemy is crushed.” posited Comrade Dauda Ilya.
