He said that the Monarch’s efforts at maintaining advocacy especially by talking to stakeholders have equally yielded massive dividends towards ending the war.
The Army Chief, who visited the Shehu Friday evening said he was in his palace to pay homage and get his support to succeed in the war against insurgency.
“I actually came on an operational visit to the war theatre but I cannot continue without seeking for your blessings to enable me to succeed.
“It’s normal to start here as a mark of respect for you sir. Your efforts have yielded a lot and lots of people have opened up to us due to your support.
“I appreciate all you have been doing in the region and environs in bringing peace to the land. We know all that you have been doing in arresting the war and we appreciate your efforts in talking to stakeholders which have yielded a lot by way of intelligence in the Emirate,” said Yahaya.
He called on the Shehu to continue to solicit prayers and support for the Army so that there would be lasting peace in Borno and the entire region of northeast Nigeria.
Boko Haram insurgents not from Borno…..Shehu Borno
Responding, the Shehu said he appreciated the visit of the Army Chief adding that it was a clear indication of respect for the Monarchy.
He said that Borno was grateful to the Commander in chief President Buhari for the appointment of Major General Farouk Yahaya as Army Chief.
Reeling out historical details, the Shehu said that many tragedies had befallen Borno yet they have never been defeated in war.
“From the Rabi invasion, Maitasine disturbances and now to Boko Haram insurgents, they are all not from Borno.
“They came all came for koranic education and being that our people are always ready to help, they came and brought a strange ideology on out people.
“I have 16 council under my Emirate with 59 district heads, 591 village heads and 7000 ward heads. Eight traditional rulers plus myself.” The Shehu maintained.
He regretted that before the the coming of this govt “we had suffered a lot, no airport, roads gsm network ect before now but we are grateful to the military because of the peace we are enjoying now.
“Many of our district heads have been gunned down, most of the people you see here today are their children who replaced them. We have lost thirteen of them to this war.
“Boko Haram is alien and not known in the Koran. 17 council area were under BH before the coming of this government.
“But we thank God all the council areas are back under the military. What is going on is that people are just afraid to go back because of the antecedents of the insurgents.
“We Want the fishermen to be allowed to go back and fish. Especially in Baga, Damasak, Gamboru Gala and many fishing villages around the lake Chad. I want you to ensure that fishing continues as soon as possible.” asserted the Shehu.
The Shehu regretted that many of the highways in the state were still very much impassable and there was no need pretending about their safety.
He pleaded that the Chief should specifically look into the 85km Maiduguri Damboa road which has been closed for a long time because of the criminal elements around the road.
To the monach Gubio to Damasak is also very dangerous especially from the Mogumeri axis to Damasak and He wants the road to be made safe for his people.
“Maiduguri, Mungunu road is safe because for a very long time they have not attacked that road but Gubio to Damasak is still unsafe.
Malofatori and Gudumbali are still no go areas for civilians because of the regular attacks.
Most of the district heads were gunned down for providing information to the military.
