The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen Faruk Yahaya, has inaugurated tree planting campaign, block of classrooms, offices and other projects to strengthen training programmes at the Army School of Military Police, Zaria.

He also inaugurated the new training centre locally sourced and trained dogs to be used by the school.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Yahaya was in Zaria on Saturday as a special guest of honor and reviewing officer for the passing out parade for the 82 Regular Recruit Intake (RRI) at Depot Nigerian Army Zaria.

The COAS restated his commitment to provide additional support and welfare for the officers and men of the school to further strengthen the national security.

Earlier, Sgt Saminu Aminu, while briefing the COAS, said the dogs were locally sourced from different parts of the country, adding that they were initiated into different K9 training by their handlers.

He said the dogs were responding positively to different trainings.

NAN also reports that 5,800 recruited soldiers passed out during the parade of the 82 RRI

The COAS said the recruits would be posted at various theatre operations to tame persistent insecurity bedeviling some parts of the country.
