Group Vows to ‘Resist Attempts to Truncate 2019 Polls in Delta Central’

A group under the aegies of Delta Central Equity for Transparent Elections ( DCETE) in Ughelli town, on Tuesday vowed to resist any attempt to truncate the 2019 elections in the area.

In the recent times, certain groups of people within Delta Central have allegedly vowed to make lives unbearable if their preferred candidates did not win in all the positions they contested.

But the equity for transparent group who viewed such comments as plot to truncate the elections in the area described it as evil which will not be allowed to spread before it is tamed.

In a statement issued and signed by the group’s coordinator, Morris Idiovwa, said: “Urhobo youths will resist violence in Delta and manipulative tendencies by any group of people,” adding that it has no ill feelings against any individual that wants to exercise his or her franchise, but would not tolerate any clandestine move to truncate the forthcoming elections and throw the state into hostility.

Part of the statement reads: “our position is that we will not allow any group of people to trucate the elections in the state and Delta Central in particular, we hear some group of people are making moves to trucate the elections if it does not favour their candidates, we shall stand against any plot or plotters of chaos in our state”.

Meanwhile, the Niger Delta Youths Association (NDYA) in Asaba has said that the future of Nigeria lies in the voting decision its citizens will take in this year’s elections.

President of the Association world wide, Victor James, who spoke to newsmen in Asaba, noted that the year 2019 is critical in the life of the nation as it would be a turning point in the emerging political evolution.

He said: “the general elections in this year 2019 will provide the opportunity for the country to be rescend and be restored as the biggest black nation in the world, economically and politically,a good decision by voters this year will be the turning point to recover the country from the destroyers”.

He lamented the growing insecurity in the country and the senseless killings across the globe, adding “the apparently helpless and insensitive of the present administration calls for serious concerns and immediate change in all shares.
