Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has disclosed that proper diet, routine medical checkups, and lifestyle choices have helped him in managing diabetes at 89 years old.
Obasanjo made this known while stressing that he has been managing diabetes for over 40 years.
Speaking in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, on Saturday, the former president emphasised the need for regular exercise.
He said, “One thing you must understand is that exercise is very important at every age, and even more important when you become a senior citizen.
“I’m officially 89 years old, but by the grace of God, I have been keeping fit and strong although I have been diabetic for over 40 years. Many people do not take their health seriously enough.”
