Sundry media reports have said that Shizzer Bada, commissioner of finance in Kaduna state, was arrested and grilled by the operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Bada, according to reports, had been in the custody of the ICPC for over a week.
Bada’s arrest was reportedly connected to the ongoing probe of Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna state.
Bada served as accountant-general and later commissioner of finance in the administration of el-Rufai.
In June, the Kaduna assembly recommended a probe of the administration over allegations bordering on diversion of funds and money laundering.
The assembly made the recommendation following a report by an ad hoc committee set up to investigate the state’s finances under the former governor.
The assembly accused the el-Rufai administration of siphoning N423 billion.
The assembly also recommended the probe of Jimi Lawal, a former senior adviser and counsellor on the Kaduna economic development council to el-Rufai.
In June, el-Rufai sued the Kaduna assembly, describing allegations against him as “politically motivated”.
Lawal was grilled by the ICPC in August.
El-Rufai was governor of Kaduna from 2015 to 2023.
