The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has commended the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA) for its humanitarian activities in the state.

The Head of ICRC in the North-West zone, Mr Abubakar Mahdi, made the commendation during his familiarisation visit to KADSEMA on Wednesday.

He said the visit provided a platform to discuss issues around the prevalence of internal displacements and conflict interventions with a view to finding ways to surmount them.

He thanked the State Government for KADSEMA’s humanitarian strides in the state as evidenced in the vast areas covered.

Mahdi also acknowledged the “long-existing relationship and formidable bond” between the two organisations and pledged to sustain the partnership.

Responding, the Executive Secretary of KADSEMA, Muhammad Mukaddas, appreciated the immense contributions of ICRC in the area of humanitarian assistance, first aid training, search and rescue.

Mukaddas said the services had impacted meaningfully in the handling of humanitarian activities in the state.

He also said that the agency was always willing to interact and cooperate with ICRC and any other relevant organisations in the discharge of its operations.

He pledged the agency’s continued partnership with the ICRC and urged the organisation not to relent in its support to the state.
