Ifeanyi Okowa, former governor of Delta State and vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This was announced on Wednesday, shortly after a meeting at the Delta State Government House in Asaba.
Before the announcement, Okowa addressed the crowd in his dialect, promising to make the best decision possible.
“Be assured that we will not go in the wrong direction. We will take the best direction, the best path for our people,” Okowa said.
The decision represents a watershed moment in Delta State politics, indicating a larger political rebalancing that might redefine party supremacy in the South-South region.
