Ikpeazu Expresses Readiness to Partner with State House of Assembly

Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has stated his readiness to partner with members of the 6th House of Assembly inaugurated on June 11, 2015 and called on them to imbibe the spirit of brotherliness and friendship to move Abia higher.

He made his feelings known at the Government House, Umuahia, during his maiden meeting with the Speaker, principal officers and members of the state House of Assembly.

According to him, the legislature is very vital to what his government intends to do in the state, adding that his administration is desperate to give dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

To that end, he charged the legislators to diminish self and place the interest of the state first through a stable and supportive House.

The Governor who assured that government will find resourceful ways of dealing with issues, said he was aware that insecurity, especially kidnapping, was rearing its ugly head in the state, pointing out that government was on top of the situation.

He promised that his government will bring ICT to bear in checkmating crime and in that regard, acquire a tracker to check criminal activities.

Governor Ikpeazu stated that he will liaise with the House in the establishment of a security trust fund and promised to do everything to ensure that the legislators excel in their constituencies.

Earlier in his remark, the Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martins Azubuike, said their visit was to formally present the 6th House to the Governor after their inauguration and to assure the Governor of their support in realizing his vision to Abians.

He said that the House has been properly constituted and ready for work and promised to collaborate with him.

Rt. Hon Azubuike stated that they are ready for partnership with the executive and other arms of government.
