I’m an Islamist, Jihadist, Says Asari Dokubo

Former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo has publicly described himself as an Islamist and a jihadist.

Dokubo made the remarks while speaking about his religious beliefs, stating that the name he now uses reflects his faith and personal convictions.

In a viral video, Dokubo said: “I’m a Jihadist, my name is Mujahed, he who carries out Jihad, that is what it means in Arabic.”

The former militant leader explained that the name represents an identity he consciously adopted.

“That is the name I adopted,” he said.

Dokubo further emphasised his commitment to Islam, saying he practices the religion without apology or fear.

“Listen to me very well, I’m an Islamist, I’m a Muslim without apologist and fear,” he added.

Dokubo is known for his outspoken nature on national issues and that of the Niger Delta
