*Candidate appeals for massive vote for PDP

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Candidate in Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose, put up a glittering show on Wednesday between Ikere-Ekiti and Ado-Ekiti as his campaign trail entered the state ahead the June 21 elections.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Fayose, who had been in Abuja since his emergence as PDP candidate on March 22, arrived Ikere-Ekiti in a helicopter at exactly 2:00 pm.

Fayose trekked for about three hours from Ikere-Ekiti to Ado-Ekiti in a journey that could have lasted 10 minutes with a car.

NAN also reports that during the long procession, traders in Ado-Ekiti closed their shops and joined the welcome party.

Fayose promised to improve on his performance during his  first tenure, adding that he would put in place policies and programmes that would promote socio-economic and political development of the state.

The PDP candidate made this known in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday when the party supporters were welcoming him back to the state.

He said that the “tumultuous’’ crowd that came to welcome him back home was an indication that he was a man of the people and grassroots politician.

Fayose said he went to Abuja to collect his certificate of return as the PDP bonafide candidate for June 21 governorship election in the state.

He disclosed that President Goodluck Jonathan would be in the state in two weeks’ time to affirm his candidature as well as inaugurate his campaign office.
