A Non-Governmental Organization, (NGO) in Delta group is currently investigating a middle-aged man Emmanuel Oghenovo for allegedly abusing his nine-year-old daughter in Oleh, Isoko North Local Government Area of the state.
The victim, it was gathered, allegedly sustained injuries in the process; a situation why the group is set to determine the father’s sanity.
Eye witness said the victim, a primary five pupil in one of the private schools in Okpe-Isoko, was allegedly abused, and mercilessly beaten up by the father over an alleged crime of not being able to give concrete information of missing items in the house.
It was also gathered that the recent beating of the 9-year-old girl was one among the many of ill-treatments the suspect had meted out on the victim and the elder sister who were reportedly abandoned by their mother, and were put under his custody alone.
The police in Oleh who did not want their names in the print confirmed the suspect is currently being interrogated adding that the victim and the elder sister were moved into a good Samaritan home in the community pending when the team of African Child Foundation in conjunction with the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development concludes its investigations.
It was revealed that the African Child Foundation had since commenced medical treatment and further examination of the girl, while the father’s mental health had also been brought before the legal department of the foundation which will take necessary legal steps.
