The Middle East has escalated into open conflict today, with Iran launching missile strikes on several U.S. military installations across the region.
This appears to be a direct retaliation for earlier joint U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on targets inside Iran, which began early Saturday morning.
It was earlier reported that U.S. President Donald Trump announced via a video on Truth Social that the U.S. had begun “major combat operations” in Iran, aimed at destroying its missile capabilities, eliminating nuclear threats, and potentially destabilizing the regime.
Trump described the strikes as “massive and ongoing,” following failed nuclear negotiations and warnings over Iran’s program.
Initial U.S. and Israeli strikes focused on military targets in Iran, including missile sites, naval assets, and nuclear-related facilities.
However, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for targeting four key U.S. bases simultaneously via ballistic missile attacks, according to Iranian state-affiliated media.
Iranian officials described the response as “crushing” and warned that all U.S. assets in the region are now legitimate targets.
