President Goodluck Jonathan will leave Abuja on Tuesday for the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, the Presidency said on Monday.
A statement in Abuja by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, said the president would be accompanied by officials from public and private sector.
Abati said the president would use the event to attract beneficial global participation in the 2014 WEF on Africa which would be hosted in Abuja from May 7 to 9.
Specifically, he said the president would be accompanied and supported by key members of the Federal Government’s Economic Management Team from the public and private sectors.
Abati said that the Nigerian Economic Summit Group would host special events in Davos.
He said the events were aimed at boosting attendance at the economic forum in Abuja by leading players in the world’s political and economic affairs.
“The events will also seek to further promote Nigeria’s immense economic potentials with a view to attracting more employment generating investments to the country,” he said.
Abati said the president would participate in a televised session focused on actions needed to ensure that the economic growth trends in Africa endured and yielded greater benefits for all stakeholders.
He said the president would have bilateral meetings with other participating heads of state and government, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel.
Abati said the Jonathan would also receive the chief executives of leading international conglomerates with interest in Nigeria before returning to Abuja on Friday.
The theme of the 2014 Annual Meeting of the forum in Davos is “Reshaping of the World”.
