Three persons have been confirmed killed at about 7:21am on St. Valentine’s Day at Zirshe village of Kwall District in Bassa LGA of Plateau State by suspected armed Fulani herdsmen who invaded the area with deadly weapons.
Similarly, another three young persons of the same Irigwe ethnic extraction were allegedly ambushed and shot dead along the School of Accountancy’s road some hours ago today.
A statement from Dalyop Mwantiri of the Emancipation Centre for Crisis Victims revealed that as at first light today only three corpses had been sighted by residents while some of their houses were touched by the militia herders.
National President of the Irigwe Youths Movement, Ezekiel Bini, who confirmed the killings told newsmen in Jos on Monday that the victims were shot dead by the gunmen who ambushed them at Nkedorong village road on Sunday evening.
Bini said that after killing the victims, the gunmen moved to another location in Zirshe village and set many houses on fire.
“It was on Sunday when four of our people who were returning to their homes at Nkedorong village were attacked by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen.
“Unfortunately after the attack, three of them lost their lives while one person escaped with gunshot injuries.
“Those killed were Moses Daburu, Ezekiel Maja, Emmanuel Agaba, while Bitrus Ezeh, 42, sustained an injury in his right leg and is presently on admission in an undisclosed hospital.” he said.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ubah Ogaba, who spoke with metrowatch online noted that management of Police in the state has summoned a meeting with stakeholders in five council areas to stop further violence in the affected areas.”
