Though details of her death were sketchy as at the time of filing this report, the Taraba born Senator Aisha Al-Hassan, aka, “Mama Taraba” was reported to have died at a hospital overseas.
The deceased was the candidate of the United Democratic Party (UDP) in the Taraba 2019 governorship election, she came third after Abubakar Sani Danladi, candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) who came second in the contest.
Hajia Aisha was equally former Minister of Women Affairs in Muhammadu Buhari‘s first tenure and was also the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the 2015 general election.
Senator Aisha Al-Hassan defeated Ishaku at the tribunal to reclaim her mandate but lost at both the Appeal and Supreme Courts.
Aisha was previously a senator representing Taraba North senatorial district, which she won under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
