The Kanuri nation has been thrown into mourning as it’s traditional representative in Lagos state Mai Kanuribe, Alhaji Mustapha Muhammadu, Tuesday died in a ghastly motor accident along the Mafa Maiduguri road of Borno state.
Alhaji Mohammadu, who was in the convoy of the Governor of Borno state Babagana Zulum lost his life with two other commuters as the goveenor was returning from his home town Mafa where he went to register as a bona fide member of the All Progressives Congress APC when the incident happened.
Sources in the convoy revealed that the tragedy happened when the rear tyre of the vehicle ferrying the Kanuribe of Lagos state burst and his vehicle summersaulted killing the chief and two others inside including his driver who died later due to profuse bleeding.
Governor Zulum, along side the former Governor Kashim Shettima delivered the remains of the deceased to their family house in Maiduguri first before arranging for the interment which took place this afternoon at about 2.30pm in Maiduguri.
Spokes man of the deputy Governor Bulama Talba who broke the sad news to metro online confirmed that his principal the Deputy Governor, Alh Umar Kadafur and a host of other top APC stalwarts of Borno state were equally in the convoy when the tragedy occurred around midday.
The traditional Chief of kanuris in Lagos has since been buried according to Islamic rights.
