Man Arraigned for Allegedly Forging Uniport Document

The police on Wednesday arraigned one Innocent Igwe, of Port-Harcourt, Rivers, in a Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and forgery.
The prosecutor, Insp. Simon Lough, told the court that the accused in October 2014 conspired with a lawyer, now at large to forge a document bearing the name of University of Port-Harcourt Teaching Hospital.

Lough, said that the accused tendered the forged document before a senior magistrates’ court in Wuse Zone 2 to deceive the magistrate.
He said that the document indicated that the accused was on admission at the said hospital.
The prosecutor said that during police investigation it was discovered that no doctor from the said hospital signed a document bearing the name of the accused.
He said that the offence contravened Sections 97 and 364 of the Penal Code law.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him, and the Senior Magistrate, Abdulaziz Anka, granted him bail in the sum of N300, 000 and a surety in like sum.
He adjourned the matter till June 18 for hearing.
