The Nigerian Army has formally handed over the teachers and pupils rescued from captivity in Oyo State to the state government, marking another milestone in the aftermath of the successful rescue operation.

The handover ceremony was conducted by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division, Major General Chinedu Nnebeufe, who presented the victims to Oyo State officials after they received medical attention and initial care.

The rescued teachers and pupils had been abducted during an attack on schools in Oriire Local Government Area in May. They regained their freedom following a coordinated security operation involving the military and other security agencies after spending several weeks in captivity.

State government representatives expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their efforts in securing the victims’ release. The government also assured that the rescued individuals would receive continued medical, psychological and welfare support as they reunite with their families.

The successful rescue has been widely commended as a major achievement in the ongoing efforts to tackle kidnapping and improve security across the state.
