The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State said on Wednesday it would soon regain its mandate that was lost to the APC in the April 2011 governorship election.

This is contained in a congratulatory message, signed by the party’s Chairman, Mr Yunana Iliya, to the party’s members who ensured its victory during the Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly Elections in the state.

Iliya said that the leadership of the party in the state wanted its members to adhere to its ideas and tenets,  to regain its lost mandate.

He said: “APC victory in the state is temporary.”

He said PDP was exploring all necessary strategies to regain its mandate, adding that the Nasarawa was a PDP- controlled state.

The chairman expressed gratitude to the entire PDP family in the state for its support during the March 28 elections nationwide.

He enjoined the party’s faithful to come out en mass and repeat their March 28 performance on April 11, to vote out Gov. Tanko Al-makura and elect PDP candidate, Alhaji Yusuf Agabi.

“We urge you not to relent in our quest to reclaim our mandate, for peace, progress and above all unity of purpose.”

“Our mandate as a party is to ensure that credible people are given the opportunity to lead our people through democratic process.

“It will give opportunity for prosperity and development as well as the much needed dividend of democracy that will move the state and country to greater height.”

He also appealed to the Independent National Electoral commission (INEC) to urgently announce the result for Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency in line with the Electoral Act.
