Two committees, “Disciplinary” and “Negotiation” have been constituted with members inaugurated by the Ndokwa East Chapter of Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The Disciplinary Committee has six members with Ogbuefi Nedozie as leader, while the Negotiation committee has ten members with Elder Ipolite Eke as the leader.
According to the party leaders, the two committees were aimed at instilling and sustaining the high level of discipline among the members, which the political party represents.
In other words, they pointed out that with the unfolding political trend towards the 2019 general elections.
It was imperative that SDP in the local government embarked on aggressive and grassroots membership thrive for the victory of their candidates at all levels.
While inaugurating the committees leaders and members at River Side Hotel Ashaka, during a general meeting of the members, the SDP leader in the L.G.A. Hon. Onyemaechi Edemenya regretted that the party had missed the track in the past. He asserted that SDP hand bounced back at the national level and praised the members in the area for their constituency and commitment to the ideals, philosophy and activities of the party.
Hon. Edemenya informed the large crowed of members that SDP was set to produce the next president of Nigeria come 2019, and charged the committees members to be optimistic in the handling their official assignments.
He advised them against compromise and favoritism, especially by the Disciplinary committee, in view of sustaining true democracy and discipline among the members.
He described politics and democracy as instruments of grassroots physical and human development and emphasized that the leadership positions were not meant for particular individuals on a section of Nigerians, Deltans or Ndokwa East people.
While calling for selfless sacrifices among all elected and appointed indigenes of the area, the SDP leader requested the committee members above personal interest in order to achieve the aims and objectives of the committees.
