A Nigerian-born Australian man on Wednesday appeared in a Sydney Court for allegedly importing 30kg of methamphetamine in skipping ropes, dresses, air compressor units and engine parts.
Australian authorities executed search warrants in Sydney’s west following a four-month investigation in which Australian Border Force officers’ intercepted consignments.
It said it found a consignment allegedly addressed to the man, among others, which contained methamphetamine, commonly known as “ice’’.
The Australian Federal Police said total weight of the haul was 30kg, a potential street value of up to 20 million Australian dollars (14.64 million dollars).
Authorities confirmed that a number of items were located while police executed the search warrants.
The items included fraudulent driver’s licences, a number of mobile phones, additional illicit substances, drug paraphernalia and 3,500 Australian dollars (2,562 dollars) in cash.
