The Nigerian Senate through its Committee on Army has expressed shock on the demise of an officer of the 17 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Major AG Mohammed on Thursday. He was killed at the battlefield against terrorists on April, 2024.

The late Major was a member of Operation Hadarin Daji and the Commander overseeing military operations in the Vantumaki, Dan Ali and Kankara axes of the state.

In an emotionally laden condolence letter signed on Sunday, 30 April, 2024 by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Army, Sen. Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, expressed regret that the Army has lost one of its finest officers whose commitment and bravery in the line of duty exemplified the sacrifices of the Military.

The message reads, “It is with profound sorrow that I on behalf of the 10th Senate Committee on Nigerian Army express our deepest condolences to the Chief of Army Staff, officers and men of the Nigerian Army over the tragic loss of Major AG Mohammed, the military commander of Sabon Garin Dan’Ali army camp in Danmusa local government area of Katsina state. His untimely demise in an ambush at Malali village on Thursday, 24 April 2024, marks a significant loss not only to his family but to the Nigerian Army and the nation.

“Major AG Mohammed’s unwavering commitment and bravery in the line of duty exemplified the highest ideals of service and sacrifice.

“His dedication to responding swiftly to calls for reinforcement, despite the perilous circumstances, is a testament to his gallantry and devotion to protecting our communities.

“As we mourn the loss of Major AG Mohammed, we also extend our thoughts and prayers to the officers who sustained injuries during the retrieval mission. We stand in solidarity with his family and wish him a swift and full recovery.

“To the grieving family of Major AG Mohammed, we offer our sincerest sympathies and unwavering support during this difficult time. His legacy as a courageous and dedicated officer will forever be remembered and honoured.

“May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his family find comfort in the legacy of his service and sacrifice. Let us unite in honouring his memory and the sacrifices made by all our brave military personnel in defending our nation.

“With heartfelt condolences and respect.”
