Troops of 27 Task Force Brigade of the Nigerian Army in a joint Operation, nicknamed ‘Operation KARYA GWUIWA’, weekend successfully cleared hideouts of suspected Boko Haram terrorists at Ajigin, Golgore, Njibulla, Doksa 1, 2 and 3 villages located at southern parts of Borno State.
Confirming the report, acting Director Army Public Relations Col Sani Kukasheka Usman, said the troops killed 37 suspected members of Boko Haram terrorists and recovered 3 AK-47 rifles.
“In line with that, the formation has carried out clearance operations on suspected Boko Haram terrorists hideouts at Ajigin, Golgore, Njibulla, Doksa 1, 2 and 3 villages located at southern parts of Borno State. During the operation, they neutralized 37 Boko Haram terrorists at Ajigin and recovered 3 AK-47 rifles”, Usman said.
The Army spokesman added that a vigilante group member lost his life while five soldiers were wounded during the clearance operation.
“The corpse of the late vigilante and the wounded soldiers have been evacuated” Usman said.
He said the troops also captured 1 Boko Haram terrorist, Musa Jubril, and one female, believed to be a sex slave held in captivity by the sect and recovered eight Motorcycles, stored raw foodstuffs and beddings.
Usman further stated that the troops have continued with the clearance operation and also maintaining blocking positions to further neutralize and destroy any fleeing Boko Haram terrorists.
