Former Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, says the future of Nigeria does not depend only on competent leadership but also on quality education and healthcare.

This was as he called for investment in education, health, and people to move Nigeria forward.

Obi made this call in a post on his official X handle on Saturday to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Archbishop Charles Heerey College of Health Sciences & Technology, Nkpor (ACHCOHSTEN), in Anambra State.

The former Anambra State governor said Nigeria was facing a severe shortage of health professionals.

He emphasized that it was a challenge that is global but even more urgent for the country.

The politician asked for training of more competent hands to meet the rising demand at home and abroad.

“I urged the matriculating and graduating students to take their studies seriously, seeing themselves as potential global citizens who can make meaningful contributions to Nigeria’s healthcare system and to the world.

“Education remains the most transformative investment, and I am always proud to meet graduates of ACHCOHSTEN excelling in the US, UK, and elsewhere, who trace their journey back to my time as Governor.

“As a nation, we must continue to invest in education, health, and people. The future of Nigeria depends not only on leaders with competence and integrity but also on institutions that build capacity for the common good,” he said.
