(PRESS STATEMENT)
On behalf of the Northern Senators Forum, I extend our deepest condolences to the family of the late Chief Audu Ogbeh, the Minister of Communications in the 2nd Republic and most recently Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development in the 4th republic under Muhammadu Buhari. Chief Audu Ogbeh, who lived a very purposeful and impactful life at 78, was a forthright and patriotic Nigerian who served selflessly, having started from the Benue State House of Assembly before entering national politics, with a sense of duty aimed at reforming and bettering Nigeria.
He was a statesman whose vision extended beyond politics into the fields and homes of Nigerian farmers. During his tenure as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, he launched initiatives like the Agricultural Inputs Mechanisation and Management Services (AIMMS) to enhance transparency and reduce fraud.
In his public life, Chief Ogbeh always put Nigeria first, preaching about the unity and betterment of Nigeria. He was a good ambassador of Benue State, and his contributions to national development will be remembered.
As we mourn the passing of Chief Audu Ogbeh, we remind Nigerian leaders of the importance of emulating the positive virtues he extolled – patriotism, belief in unity, and dedication to national betterment. In these times of challenge and change, leaders who embody these virtues can inspire progress, foster cohesion, and drive Nigeria towards greater heights.
May Chief Ogbeh’s legacy guide those in leadership positions towards service that prioritizes Nigeria’s unity and development. His family, Benue State, and Nigeria will miss him.
We pray that Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest.

Sen Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua
