Former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has downplayed the recent wave of defections in the North West, attributing them to personal interests rather than the welfare of the people.
Speaking with journalists after the inaugural Zonal Executive Council Meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Northwest in Kaduna on Saturday.
Tambuwal criticized politicians defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), arguing that their decisions are driven by self-interest rather than public service.
“People switch parties for various reasons, but what I’ve observed is that these defections are not about the people’s interest—they’re about personal gains, what I call ‘stomach infrastructure,” he stated.
