The Borno State Commissioner for Reconstruction Rehabilitation and Resettlement (RRR), Engineer Ibrahim Garba is dead
He was said to have passed on in his sleep this morning.
Although no reason has been given for his sudden demise, the Commissioner of Police, Lawal Yusuf, is said to be leading a team of detectives at the University of Maiduguri teaching hospital (UMTH) to unearth the cause of the sudden death before interment.
A statement issued by the Borno Government House revealed that the police command has commenced urgent investigation into the death of the commissioner for RRR, Engr Ibrahim Garba.
The statement signed by the governor’s spokesman noted that the Commissioner of Police CP Yusuf was at the house at which Engr Ibrahim died in Maiduguri on Saturday to flag off his investigation of the case.
The statement further noted that Governor Babagana Zulum received the news of the demise of the Commissioner with intense shock and profound grief.
“The Governor mourns alongside the late commissioner’s family, other loved ones, friends, associates, and members of the state executive council.” it stated.
Late Engr Ibrahim Garba was the Governor’s Special Adviser on Special Projects before he was elevated and appointed Commissioner of RRR, at the commencement of his second term.
He was last seen in a public function at the swearing in of a commissioner and some care taker council chairmen.
