In a move that has stirred political conversations within the Ogun State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Honourable Comrade Olaoluwa Akinwande Akinsola, the Ogun Central Senatorial Youth Leader of the party, has formally resigned from his position, citing personal conviction and alignment with his evolving political ideals.

In a letter dated November 12, 2025, and addressed to the NNPP Ward Chairman, Ward 10, Obada Oko, Ewekoro Local Government, Akinsola expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the party at all levels while maintaining that his decision was not borne out of bitterness or discontent.

“My decision to step aside is purely personal and stems from conviction,” Akinsola said. “It is not made in bitterness or regret but in the spirit of sincerity and alignment with my evolving principles and aspirations.”

The youthful political figure, who has been a familiar name in Ogun’s grassroots politics, highlighted his journey through the party’s ranks — from Ewekoro Local Government Youth Leader, to Deputy Chairmanship candidate in the last local government election, and later Ogun Central Senatorial Youth Leader.

“Each of these positions offered me the privilege to contribute meaningfully to youth mobilization, political engagement, and the strengthening of our party’s structure in Ogun State,” he reflected.

Akinsola described his tenure as one of “service, sacrifice, and shared vision,” acknowledging the support of colleagues and party loyalists who worked with him through challenging political seasons.

“I remain profoundly grateful to the leadership of the party at the ward, local government, and state levels for the trust and confidence reposed in me. To all members and supporters who worked tirelessly with me, I say thank you,” he stated.

While his resignation takes immediate effect, Akinsola emphasized that he still holds the ideals of the NNPP in high regard and wishes the party success in its future endeavors.

“I hold in high esteem the ideals of service and patriotism that the NNPP represents,” he said. “I sincerely wish the party continued growth and success in all its future undertakings.”

Political observers in Ogun Central view Akinsola’s resignation as significant, given his active role in mobilizing young people during the 2023 general elections and the last local government polls. Sources within the NNPP described him as “a vibrant and dedicated youth leader whose exit will leave a noticeable gap in the party’s youth structure.”

As of press time, the Ogun State NNPP leadership has yet to issue an official statement regarding the development.

Akinsola’s resignation adds to the list of recent shakeups within the Ogun NNPP, following a series of resignations and defections by key figures in the party. Analysts suggest the wave of resignations may indicate an internal reorganization ahead of the 2027 general elections.
