Okafor, AANI President, Inaugurates New EXCOs for Borno, Yobe Chapters

In a significant step toward strengthening the states leadership of the Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI), the association’s President, Ambassador EO Okafor mni, inaugurated the newly elected executive committee members for the Borno/Yobe State Chapter of AANI.

The inauguration ceremony took place at the Government Lodge in Maiduguri, Borno State, today, Tuesday 1st October 2024, in the presence of top government officials and members of the AANI community.

The event, though brief, was rich with symbolism, marking a new chapter in the leadership of the Borno/Yobe States Chapter.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Okafor commended the outgoing executive members for their diligent service and expressed his confidence in the ability of the new executives to build upon the foundation already laid.

He emphasised the importance of leadership in promoting the values and vision of AANI at the grassroots level, especially in a region that has faced numerous challenges.

“The Alumni Association of the National Institute plays a pivotal role in fostering national development, and this is only possible through strong leadership at both the national and regional levels,” said Ambassador Okafor.

“The newly elected members have been entrusted with the responsibility to uphold the principles of AANI and contribute meaningfully to the growth and progress of Borno and Yobe States.

We are confident in your ability to rise to the occasion and continue the tradition of excellence and service.”

The newly inaugurated executive committee members are:

1. Barrister Mallam Fannami mni, SEC 43, 2021, Borno State Head of Service-Chairman.
2. Alhaji Modu Ma’aji Ajiri mni, SEC 42, 2020 –Secretary.
3. Alhaji Kadai Abdulkadir Usman mni, SEC 44, 2022–Assistant Secretary.
4. Dr. Bukar Ali Usman mni, SEC 40, 2018– Treasurer.
5. Engineer Tijjani Usman Monguno mni, SEC 44, 2022 –Legal Adviser.

Each of the newly elected officials has been recognised for their outstanding contributions to their respective fields and for their commitment to public service.

The President, in his address, highlighted the fact that this new leadership team brings a blend of experience and fresh perspectives, which he believes will serve the association and the state well.

In his acceptance speech, Barrister Mallam Fannami, the newly inaugurated Chairman, thanked AANI for the trust placed in him and the new executive team.

He reaffirmed their commitment to uphold the ideals of the institute and to work collectively towards promoting good governance, peace and development in Borno and Yobe States.

“We are deeply honoured by this responsibility, and we pledge to work in unity, ensuring that AANI remains a force for positive change in this region,” Fannami remarked.

He also acknowledged the ongoing challenges faced by the region, particularly in terms of security and socio-economic development, and assured that the new executive committee would work closely with local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to address these issues.

As part of the inauguration activities, the newly elected executives pledged to collaborate closely with the national body of AANI and other chapters across the country to implement initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of members and contributing to the broader national agenda of fostering peace and development.

The ceremony marks the beginning of a new era for AANI in Borno and Yobe States, with a leadership team poised to make a lasting impact on the chapter.
