‘To put the records straight, Hon. Onyejeocha knows everything about the loan. As stakeholders we are aware she was on the trip to China with
President Goodluck Jonathan where the document for the loan was signed.
“In fact, her trip to China, we learnt, was sponsored by one of the Aviation
parastatals. She was not sponsored alone; she went with members of her
family’

A pressure group in the aviation sector, Association of Aviation Stakeholders, on Thursday said it was disappointed by media reports quoting Chairman of House of Representatives Committee on Aviation, Hon. Nkiruka Onyejeocha, denying knowledge of the of $500 million Chinese Exim-Bank loan for the aviation sector.
President of the group, Abubakar Maikasuwa, said in a statement that:  ”We have read with shock and consternation, comments credited to the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation, Honourable
Nkiruka Onyejeocha, that she is not aware of the $500million Chinese-Exim
Bank loan for the Aviation Sector and other infrastructural projects of the
Federal   Government.
“Except she claims she was misquoted by the reputable media houses that
reported her comments, she was downright dishonourable and should be told
so.”
Maikasuwa said: “To put the records straight, Hon. Onyejeocha knows everything about the loan. As stakeholders we are aware she was on the trip to China with
President Goodluck Jonathan where the document for the loan was signed.
“In fact, her trip to China, we learnt, was sponsored by one of the Aviation
parastatals. She was not sponsored alone; she went with members of her
family
“It is a self-indictment for her to come to the open and say she is in the
dark when she was carried along especially concerning the four new
international airport Projects located in Lagos, Port Harcourt ,Kano and
Abuja all financed by the Chinese Exim loan.
“We want to state categorically that Nigerians should ignore her and her co-
travelers who see nothing good in the revolution going on in the Aviation
sector. We wonder why she is out to rubbish the transformation Agenda of
President Goodluck Jonathan
“Her threat of holding a Public Hearing on the issue amounts to nothing but blackmail which at the end of the day is a waste of public funds.
“We will resist every attempt by the old brigade to arm-twist the wheel of progress in the Aviation sector for ulterior motives. We know where they
are headed and are ready to go public with them, even if we have to publish documents.
“The wind of change is blowing in the   aviation sector, our airports are beginning to look like modern ones, safety measures have taken priority, new airlines are coming in and instead of commending the progress this ‘Honourable’ member has chosen the road of ignominy.”
He also said that: “It’s highly condemnable that at this period when everybody that passes
through our airports comes out to praise the work that have been done, someone who ought to know better is standing truth on its head.
“Again, we belief it is mischievous, wicked and odious and aimed at blackmailing the Chief Executives of the Agency for personal benefit.
“Unfortunately for her, stakeholders like us will resist her well-known machinations.”
