Secretary-General of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Dr. Mohammad Barkindo, has met with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Nigeria, in Abuja, Mohammad Ali Bak.
The visit was a part of activities lined up by the OPEC top diplonat ahead of his planned visit to the Islamic Republic to attend the inauguration of its President-elect, Ebrahim Raisi.
Barkindo, during his forthcoming trip to Iran, would hold talks with Raisi as well as with top officials of the Ministry of Oil.
This newspaper, metrowatchonline.com gathered that during the visit, the OPEC Sec-Gen would hold meetings with officials of the incoming government, as well as with Bijan Namdar Zanganeh, Iran’s outgoing Minister of Petroleum and Head of its Delegation to OPEC.
Iran is one of the five founding members of OPEC that has been engaged with the P5+1 Countries in their attempt to revive the JCPOA.
The OPEC Sec-Gen is widely acclaimed as a man that has changed the face of global oil diplomacy, OPEC, and OPEC+ where he serves as Coordinator, Declaration of Cooperation (DoC) of the 23-member Countries.
