National Vice-Chairman (South-south), People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Orbih, Saturday decried the decadence at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and called for an urgent action to reverse the slide. The commission, he said now breeds fraud.
Orbih,  who blamed it on federal government disregard for its Act, said: “I condemn the failure of the federal government  in not constituting the NDDC board in accordance with the Act”
The politician, who spoke at the gathering of PDP leaders in the state at the residence of Chief Tony Anenih, also lamented that: “The NDDC is now a celebrated institution of fraud and scandals denying the Niger Delta people of accelerated development as  envisaged in the Act.”
Canvassing for an urgent return to the agency’s Establishment Act to restart its operation towards the right direction, Orbih argued that: “Until a proper board is inaugurated, Govt should suspend all allocations to the commission.”
The zonal chairman of PDP, also challenged the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, to speed up recovery of the state’s resources in the hands of few persons.
He said: “I challenge the Govt to do everything possible to recover looted and misappropriated funds in respect of the failed Storm water project and the controversial central hospital project.
“There is a lot to be done. You cannot leave Edo state money for development  in the hands of a few pretentious self styled crusaders of let the people lead. I call on them to use this Lenten season to seek forgiveness and return ill acquired wealth and let the people benefits. Edo must move forward.
Back home in EDO state, I want to congratulate the Gov, his deputy and the great people of Edo state for the appeal court reaffirmation of our victory. I thank the leaders for their support for the Gov and his Govt.
Celebrating the party’s leaders, Orbih recalled that: “When my brother Tony Anenih Jnr informed me of his decision to host us and asked my preference of venue? my choice is where we are today, the residence of our father and leader, Chief Tony Anenih.
“In his remembrance and honour let us all rise and observe a minute silence, God bless our leader.
“What Tony is doing today, our father and leader would have done, thank you Tony.
“We can never talk about PDP in Edo, South South and Nigeria without mentioning the name of our leader.
“I am indeed  very proud of his political achievements. Today we are coming together to celebrate this moment because the leader  was there for the party in its most difficult period. We remain ever grateful.
“Let me assure the leaders and members of  our party that I will at all times defend the interest of our party and our zone.
“Let me use this occasion to call on the federal Govt to stop playing politics with the development of the Niger-Delta region”, he added.
The reunion gathering was attended by major stakeholders of the party in the state to celebrate Orbih’s reelection as National Vice-Chairman South-south zone.
