Osasere Osifo Elected President as UBAANA Gets New Leadership

New York, USA – The University of Benin Alumni Association North America (UBAANA) concluded its 19th Annual Reunion with elegance, pride, and a renewed sense of unity, thanks to the exceptional efforts of the New York/New Jersey Chapter, which hosted this year’s historic event.

Held over the weekend, the reunion brought together distinguished alumni, academic leaders from the University of Benin, and accomplished professionals from across the globe. The highlight of the event was the inauguration of a new Executive Committee, led by Engr. Osasere F. Osifo, a U.S.-based cybersecurity expert and United States Air Force veteran, who was sworn in as President of UBAANA for the 2025–2027 term.

The reunion was graced by the virtual presence of several dignitaries, including Professor Edoba B. Omoregie, SAN, Vice Chancellor, University of Benin; Professor Eddie Erhagbe (FHSN), Director of Alumni Relations, University of Benin; and Barrister Emmanuel Orizuwa, Worldwide President, University of Benin Alumni Association.

All delivered inspiring goodwill messages and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration between the university and its alumni abroad.

The keynote address was delivered by Prince (Dr.) Richard Oma Ahonaruogho, SAN, who captivated the audience with powerful reflections on alumni leadership, global impact, and the strength of unity within the Uniben family.

Other esteemed attendees included Dr. Clement Oghene, FNSE, former Worldwide President of the University of Benin Alumni Association, and Dr. Peter Ozua, a distinguished Consultant Histopathologist based in the United Kingdom.

The newly sworn-in UBAANA Executive Committee for the 2025–2027 term includes:

•Engr. Osasere F. Osifo – President

•Anita Oghagbon – Vice President

•Dr. Governor Ameh – Secretary General

•Engr. Ikechukwu Asiedu – Assistant Secretary General

•Mr. Isreal Ekpo – Treasurer

In his acceptance speech, Engr. Osifo expressed deep appreciation to Ambassador Western Iyamu, Chairman of the Host Chapter, for his exceptional leadership and hospitality. He also commended the Local Organizing Committee, led by Dr. Stanley Omorogbe, for delivering a “masterpiece reunion—flawlessly executed and rich in experience.”

He further unveiled his five-point presidential agenda, which will guide UBAANA’s strategic direction:

•Reunification of the UBAANA Family
•Monthly Webinar Series, Growth & Digital presence
•Mentorship & Support Programs
•Improved Member Welfare
•Strategic Alumni Engagement

Another major milestone of the reunion was the election of five new members into the UBAANA Board of Directors. These distinguished individuals bring a wealth of experience, integrity, and passion to the organization:

•Dr. Daniel Ogbovoh

•Yvonne Bello Osagie, Esq.

•Dr. Henrietta Orumwense

•Dr. Chika Ojukwu

Their election marks a significant step in strengthening UBAANA’s governance and strategic direction for the years ahead.

The evening was not only intellectually stimulating but also packed with entertainment and celebration.
On hand to entertain the audience with wit and humor was Nigeria’s celebrated comedian and master of ceremonies, Lawrence Osarenkhoe, popularly known as MC Casino, hailed as the “Greatest MC of the Federal Republic.” Also present was Godbless Otubure, a respected multi-sectoral value creator who added further dynamism to the evening.

Guests were musically enthralled by Morientez, an immensely talented Uniben alumnus and finalist of MTN Project Fame and Peak Talent Hunt, whose live performance brought rhythm, nostalgia, and class to the reunion.

As the curtains fell on the memorable reunion, excitement began to build for the future. The Boston, Massachusetts Chapter was officially announced as the host of the 2026 UBAANA Annual Reunion. Members are already looking forward with great anticipation to what promises to be another impactful and celebratory event.

The 19th UBAANA Annual Reunion stands as a powerful testament to the strength, resilience, and unity of the global University of Benin alumni community. With a new executive team at the helm and a dedicated Board in place, expectations are high for continued excellence and greater strides in the years ahead.
