Senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of divorcing his wife, Jennifer Douglas, after losing a presidential election.
Oshiomhole made the allegation on Monday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally in Calabar, Cross River State.
The former Edo State governor claimed that Atiku married Jennifer, whom he identified as being from the Southeast, after promising to make her the First Lady if he won the presidential election.
He further alleged that the former vice president established a foundation for her but later divorced her after losing the election.
According to Oshiomhole, Atiku had taken Jennifer to court to formalise the divorce.
The lawmaker made the comments while responding to Atiku’s criticisms of President Bola Tinubu, saying the former vice president should also be subjected to criticism.
Oshiomhole said, “Like somebody said the other day that Atiku went to the Southeast and said if I win election, your daughter would be the First Lady, that was when he married Jennifer.
“Because he likes abusing our president so we must reply, he married Jennifer, set up a foundation for her and at the end of the day, he lost the election and he went ahead to divorce Jennifer, he took her to court, is that not true?”
He challenged those criticising Tinubu to also be willing to discuss the actions of opposition politicians.
Oshiomhole’s claims formed part of his remarks at the APC rally as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general election.
