Victor Osimhen, a forward for the Super Eagles, should win the African Player of the Year title in 2023, according to former Togo and Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor.
Osimhen contributed significantly to Napoli winning the Italian championship by scoring 26 goals and dishing out five assists, which was their first league triumph in more than three decades.
The Moroccan attacker, Youssef En-Nesyri of Sevilla, and Riyad Mahrez of Man City, who won the treble, were among the favorites for the award because to the 24-year-old’s outstanding performance last season.
Nwankwo Kanu, a Nigerian, was the previous recipient of the honor in 1999.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Adebayor a recipient of the award in 2008, said Osimhen’s performance last season gave him the advantage.
