The Enugu State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commended the party’s national leadership for its firm stance in resolving the crisis over the National Secretary position.
The party also lauded the Supreme Court for reaffirming that leadership decisions within political parties, including the appointment of the PDP’s National Secretary, remain an internal affair beyond judicial intervention. It described the ruling as a victory for democracy.
In a statement on Saturday, the Publicity Secretary of the Enugu PDP, Chief Uche Obute, speaking on behalf of the State Working Committee led by Chairman Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, appreciated the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and Board of Trustees (BOT) for their leadership and commitment to resolving internal disputes.
The statement reads: “The State Working Committee of PDP Enugu State wishes to appreciate and commend the Supreme Court for upholding the principle of the supremacy of the Party in the management of its internal affairs, and this is indeed a victory for democracy in the country.
“The National Secretary of our great party Rt. Hon. SKE Udeh-Okoye has long resumed his responsibilities and was recently in Enugu to witness the PDP Zonal Congress at Okpara Square, Enugu, which the South East PDP National Congress Committee and the INEC described as peaceful, transparent and successful.”
“The State Working Committee of the Party urges all PDP party faithful to remain united as we work together to move our Party to an enviable height.”
The statement also acknowledged the role of the PDP Governors’ Forum, particularly Enugu State Governor Dr. Peter Mbah, and expressed gratitude to the party’s founding fathers and various organs for their solidarity and support.
