PDP Crisis: I Won’t Succumb to Intimidation, Says Anyanwu

Anyanwu Snubs PDP NWC, Resumes at National Secretariat
In the aftermath of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) National Executive Committee ( NEC) meeting, Senator Samuel Anyanwu has said he would not succumb to intimidation to quit as national secretary of the opposition party.
Anyanwu, who stated this, while speaking with journalists, on Wednesday, in Abuja, insisted that he never at any time resigned as the national scribe of the PDP, noting that the law is on his side.
The PDP National Executive Committee (NEC), at its 99th meeting on Tuesday received the resolution of  its  South East chapter, nominating former national youth leader, Sunday Ude-Okoye as Anyanwu’s replacement.
Consequently, the NEC, which is the second highest organ of the PDP, after the National Convention, resolved to consider the South East resolution on June 30.
However, Anyanwu, who stated that what took place on Tuesday was a meeting of party stakeholders and not NEC, insisted  that there is no vacancy in the office of national secretary.
” The Supreme Court has spoken. And what did the Supreme Court say? That the person that went to court is a meddlesome interloper.  That  is the judgment of Supreme court and that the judgment of the high court, is nullified. And all my reliefs sought are meritorious and sustained. And what are my reliefs? That I am national secretary of PDP.
“So, I never resigned. And don’t forget that from November 23rd after my election in 2023 to January 9th, when I got a judgment at the Federal High Court, till today, this is one year plus. I have  been working. I have been doing all the congresses. If they say that I have resigned, that I am not a national secretary, then every congresses, in all the entire states, even the governorship candidates that I signed their document will be a nullity.
“That means PDP has no structure both at the ward, local government, and state level. So, I think that our parties should be very careful. They should be very, very careful.”
Regardless,  Anyanwu added that even if he was to be  replaced as National Secretary, his replacement would have to come from Imo State, stating that the five National Working Committee ( NWC) zoned to the South East was shared among the five states in the zone.
“Every state in the southeast has a representative in the National Working Committee. For instance, The National Deputy Treasurer comes from Enugu State. The National Auditor from Anambra State.  The Deputy National Legal Adviser, Abia State.
“But assuming that I am no longer the National Secretary, for instance, whoever that will  replace me must come from Imo State. Besides, National Secretary of a party is for the entire south. I was not elected by only southeast. I was elected at the convention by the entire nation,” Anyanwu stated.
