The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has said that plans are in motion to fire the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, from the party.

The party, through its Deputy Natinal Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, said that a committee has already been put in place to review alleged anti-party activities committed by the FCT Minister.

According to him, many people in the PDP now believe that the party would be better without the former Governor of Rivers State.

He said that the party was ready to deal with anyone who clogs its progress, adding that such individuals are better out of the party.

According to him, if Wike is not going to be to the advantage of the PDP, he can bid the PDP farewell and stand where he is.

Speaking in an interview on Arise News, the PDP chieftain said, “The last time I checked he [Wike] was still a member of the PDP; he hasn’t come out to denounce his membership of the PDP.

“And he’s coming with some disadvantages as many have observed… probably, [the PDP would be better off if he had left].

“To be honest with you, those who stand against the chances of the PDP or have been doing things that would not promote the interest of the party are not necessarily within the PDP and as a party anyone who would clog the progress of the party is better off out of the PDP so that the PDP would hold itself together to be able to bring back that democratic hope for Nigeria.

“So, certainly, if Nyesom Wike is not going to be to the advantage of the PDP which many argued, he can also bid the PDP farewell and stand wherever he is.

“Certainly the PDP will not have just one person, not a single person that has that capacity to put the PDP into shame.

WWhatever they’ve done, we’ve put a committee in place which we’re still reviewing, to deal with those dissenting voices, those who have taken another decision and done things that would amount to anti-party and Wike is said to be one of them from the number of petitions we’ve received.

“Once the committee comes up with its decision in that line [of firing Wike from the party] certainly there’ll be no stopping us from doing so. We’ll get rid of them.”

Meanwhile, a two-time presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, during the week, announced his resignation from the party.
