Authorities of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, has blamed the Special Task Force (STF) for the latest attacks and killings in the area.
Speaking through the deputy chairman of the council, Zakka Gyang, during a visit by the state gubernatorial flagbearer of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Senator Gyang Nyam Pwajok, the local government authority said the security agencies have failed in their responsibility of protecting lives and properties of the people.
The deputy chairman alleged that some members of the STF are strongly involved in the attacks and called on the federal and state governments to investigate and ascertain the allegations so that those involved in the devilish act will be brought to book to serve as a deterrent to others.
He thanked the flagbearer for “the visit and show of love at this trying moments,” said some people are desperate to return the state to its dark old days.
The PDP candidate, who was represented by his running mate, Yilji Gomwalk, said he is in the council to sympathise with the people of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area and the families of those that lost their lives during the attacks by unknown gunmen early this week which claimed over 12 lives.
The deputy governorship hopeful, who later visited the families of the slained victims in Barkin Ladi town and Kassa was received by the counselor, village heads, relatives and the people of the communities, enjoined them to be security conscious and vigilant.
He described the killings as barbaric and wicked and assured them that government at all levels are doing everything possible to expose the perpetrators of such devilish acts.
He then donated undisclosed amount of cash to the families to assist them.
