Police Arrest Man in Ogun for Allegedly Dismembering Corpse of 13-Year-Old-Girl

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested Ogidan Mustapha for allegedly dismembering the hands of his neighbor’s deceased 13-year-old child in the Sagamu Local Government Area of the state.

Mustapha was apprehended around 1:30 am on Friday as he attempted to dispose of the child’s body near the Igbosoro River in Igode village.

According to DAILY POST, the body of the victim, identified as Oriyomi Adegboyega, was found wrapped in a mat.

The incident was confirmed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, who stated that the arrest was made following a tip-off from a sister security agency.

Odutola also revealed that three other suspects were detained for allegedly helping to dig the grave.

The mother of the deceased, Peace Adegboyega, told the police that her daughter had died from electrocution around 10:20 am on Thursday.

She expressed shock upon learning that her neighbor, Ogidan, was found with her daughter’s mutilated body, adding that the family had been planning to bury the child.

During a search of the suspect’s residence, the police discovered two English pump-action rifles and various local charms.

Odutola said: “ An intelligence source from a sister security agency alerted the divisional police officer of Igode that on the 20th of September 2024, at about 0130hrs at past midnight, they trailed a suspicious movement to a bush around Igbosoro River in Igode village and caught one Ogidan Mustapha as he dumped a corpse.

“At a close glance, the vigilante operatives examined the corpses wrapped in a mat and discovered it was a young girl’s remains whose two hands had been amputated and dumped near the river.

“After careful observation, the identity of the deceased was revealed as one Oriyomi Adegboyega, a 13-year-old female.”

She stated that during the interrogation, the suspect denied dismembering the deceased but admitted to transporting the intact body after her father, Sunday Adegboyega, requested his help in burying her far from home.

“The suspect denied the amputation of the 13-year-old girl, but he admitted that the girl’s father, one Sunday Adegboyega, 56, requested him to assist in burying the deceased far away from home, but he carried the corpse with a complete body from the father’s compound,” she said.

Odutola noted the suspects had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and likely prosecution.
