The Kebbi State Police Command said on Thursday that it had arrested seven suspects in connection with hidden arms discovered buried in Rafin Kukah village in the Yauri Local Government Area of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the arms included three AK-47 rifles, seven magazines, 188 live munitions, and one Paranol pistol loaded with eight rounds of ammunition.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Mohammed Mainagge, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi that the suspects were arrested in Yauri.
Mainagge, who did not disclose the names of the suspects, said investigation was on-going, adding that “fruitful revelations had been obtained from the suspects’’.
He said that the suspects would be prosecuted at the end of detailed investigation to ascertain “the source of the arms’’.
He appealed to the public to provide useful information that would assist security agencies to curtail crime, and assured that the command would ensure confidentiality of informants.
