Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed following a fire incident that ravaged a residential building in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The incident occurred on Friday night at Hazmat street, Kuola off Akala Expressway in Ibadan.

It was learnt that the upper floor of the duplex residential building with adjoining two bathrooms flat were affected by the fire. .

No life was lost in the inferno.

Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Hon Maroof Akinwande confirmed the incident in a statement made available on Saturday.

Akinwande said policemen from Kuola Division provided security cover for the fire fighters.

“Upon arrival, it was the upper floor of a duplex residential building with adjoining two bathrooms flat engulfed by fire.

“Our officers quickly swung into action, subdued and restricted the fire from spreading to the ground floor and nearby buildings. The fire incident was jointly extinguished with a crew of fireman from Federal Fire Service and Sweetco Fire service

“The presence of a team of policemen from Kuola Division was applauded for providing security cover during the fire fighting operation. No casualty was recorded and the fire incident was as a result of lighted mosquito coils unattended to ignited nearby combustibles and set the building ablaze,” the statement said.
