A woman (name withheld) once married to one Mr. John Zira, the father of his two kids from Bokka community of Michika council area of Adamawa state, has been stabbed by her estranged husband.
According to one of the aunties, Zira who is a provision seller in Jos Plateau State allegedly left for Adamawa state, to go plot how to murder his former wife for ritual purposes far from their residence in jos.
“John Zira allegedly left Jos some weeks ago for Song in Adamawa, concluded his plot, put a call to his estranged wife that she should meet him in that Song council area.
“e was said to have cautioned his estranged wife not to tell anyone about her trip from jos to Adamawa but the woman went ahead to inform her aunty who was kept at red alert knowing that the couple were no longer living together under the same roof and anything could happen.
“On reaching Song council area on Sunday, 9th July 2023, Zira allegedly lured the woman to the outskirts of the council headquarters and demanded to sleep with her.
“But the wife insisted that, the bush isn’t a proper place for them to rekindle their sex life and that provoked John who began to stab her with a knife.
“After receiving several stabs from the estranged husband and bleeding profusely, the wife pretended to be dead on the floor right there in the bush.
“John later covered her with leaves thinking that the woman is dead. He carried one of her shoes, money and even mobile phone when leaving.
“God brought help to her when some women were passing by and they saw her screaming and bleeding profusely. She was taken to the General Hospital Song for immediate treatment ” said our source.
Reliable sources in Adamawa State revealed that the man’s intention was to do money ritual with her since the marriage had broken down and she is of no use to him again.
But the grace of God worked for the lady she was rescued and got help almost immediately.
Reacting to the incident, spokeman of the Adamawa Police Command Suleiman Ngoroje revealed that John Zira has since fled Song council area where he allegedly committed the crime and is on the run because his whereabout is still unknown.
He said the case has been transferred from the Song Div police Headquarters Song to State CID as directed by the Commissioner of Police (CP) Afolabi Babatola for Discreet Investigation and presently under investigation.
“The victim is responding perfectly to treatment as revealed by the Investigators. Suspect is on the run and is been trailed as moving targets, shuttling between Kogi,Nasarawa and Plateau states.
“The Command is assuring members of the public that effort are on top gear to reach out to hideout of the suspect and bring him to book,” said the police spokesman.
